Matt Champlin and Virago |

Matt Champlin is canine handler and sergeant with the Gallipolis Police Department in Gallia County, Ohio and has been teamed with his current canine, Virago, since March of 2001. Sgt. Champlin has been employed with the Gallipolis Police Department since September of 1999.
Sgt. Champlin is an accomplished canine handler with numerous seizures and apprehensions recorded with PSD Virago. Sgt. Champlin and PSD Virago have historically certified with the United States Police Canine Association (U.S.P.C.A.), North American Police Working Dog Association (N.A.P.W.D.A.) and the State of Ohio . In 2003 Sgt. Champlin and PSD Virago competed at the national level in Egg Harbor Township New Jersey in the U.S.P.C.A. Nationals.
Sgt. Champlin has been an instructor with Pine Grove Kennels since its inception. |

Steven Heater and Andi |
|

Steven Heater, Master instructor at Pine Grove Kennel, has been a Deputy Sheriff in Ohio since 1989 and retired from the Athens County (Ohio) Sheriff's Office as a sergeant. He has been a K-9 handler since 1995 and obtained his trainer certification course from Lynnwood Kennels in 1999.
Sargeant Heater is a K-9 evaluator for the State of Ohio and the police dog trainer for numerous departments in the state of Ohio and West Virginia. He has instructed several workshops around the Ohio Valley. In addition, he is a Reserve Deputy K-9 handler with the GAllia County Sheriff's Office.
Steven provides K-9 maintenance training for following law enforcement agencies:

Josh Staats and Barney |

Josh Staats began in law enforcement in 2001 and became a K-9 handler in 2004. Josh is a Sergeant with the Washington County Sherrif's Office assigned as a detective with Major Crimes Task Force, which includes members from the Washington County Sherrif's Office, Marietta Police Department, BCI&I and Morgan County Sherriff's Office
He has obtained K-9 certifications through OPOTA, NAPWDA, and WV Canine Association
Josh has been a K-9 instructor since 2007, is a firearms instructor through OPOTA, a
member of the Washington County Sherrif's Office Special Response Team (SRT) and a member of the Washington County Sherrif's Office Drug Interdiction Criminal Enforcment (DICE) team. |
